Dr. Botha teaches transportation engineering at the graduate and undergraduate level in the areas of geometric design, traffic engineering, transportation planning as well as airport planning and design. Past and present research projects include the microscopic simulation of traffic on two-lane roads, determination of guidelines for the design of acceleration lanes at stop-controlled intersections, pricing of roadway systems and determination of driving cycles to predict air-pollution. He was nominated as a University Teacher Scholar (1993/94).
